Content & Posting Policy
Effective July 25, 2026
Where this applies
Three places on DentalAgora accept content from users: the community rooms, the classifieds board, and the profile form in The Guild. These rules govern all three, and they are part of the Terms of Use.
The spirit of the whole thing: this is a professional square, not a lead-generation pit. Real information, honestly labeled, from people who say who they are.
1. Say who you are
You can post under an alias — plenty of honest conversation only happens anonymously, and that is fine. What is not fine is pretending to be a colleague while you are actually selling something.
If you have a commercial interest in what you are posting about, disclose it in the post. Vendors, consultants, coaches, lenders, recruiters, and brokers are genuinely welcome here — as themselves. Undisclosed commercial posting is the single fastest way to get removed. That rule applies to us too: anything on this site with a commercial interest behind it is labeled.
2. No patient information, ever
Do not post patient names, faces, dates of birth, chart numbers, images, or any combination of details that could identify a person — not in a room, not in a listing, not in a screenshot. Scrub radiographs and screenshots before uploading them anywhere. Clinical discussion is welcome; identifiable patients are not. We remove this on sight, without waiting for a report.
3. Employment and opportunity posts must be non-discriminatory
Any post about a job, associateship, partnership, buy-in, temp shift, or practice opportunity may not state or imply a preference, limitation, or specification based on a protected class.
That includes race, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, religion or creed, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital or familial status, age, disability, medical condition, genetic information, military or veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law — including the categories protected by Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.
In plain terms: describe the job and the qualifications — clinical skills, licensure, experience level, career stage, schedule, production expectations, location. Never describe the person you picture filling it.
- ›Fine: "Seeking a GP associate comfortable with molar endo, 3–4 days/week, mentorship available for a newer doctor."
- ›Fine: "Looking for a hygienist with 2+ years of perio experience and a California RDH license."
- ›Not allowed: any preference as to age ("young doctor," "recent grad only" used as an age proxy), sex or gender, race or ethnicity, national origin, religion, family status, or disability.
- ›Not allowed: "must be a native speaker" framing. If a language skill is genuinely required for patient care, state the skill — "Spanish fluency required" — not the origin of the person.
The same principle applies to any post involving real property — office space, a suite to sublease, a building for sale. Statements of preference based on protected class in a housing or real-estate context violate the federal Fair Housing Act and California law, and are not permitted here.
We remove offending posts and will ask you to repost the compliant version. Repeat violations end posting access.
4. Classifieds: sell what you actually have
- ›Equipment, supplies, and practice assets only. Practice sales, listings, and brokerage offerings are not classifieds — do not post them here.
- ›Describe the item honestly: real condition, real age, real defects. No stock photos passed off as the actual unit.
- ›No expired, recalled, adulterated, or resale-restricted materials. Pharmaceuticals, controlled substances, and anything requiring a licensed distributor chain are prohibited.
- ›Do not list something you do not have, do not own, or cannot legally transfer.
- ›No counterfeit, gray-market, or knowingly stolen goods.
- ›You are the seller, not us. DentalAgora does not inspect, escrow, guarantee, ship, or insure anything on the board. Verify before you pay.
5. General conduct
- ›Argue with the point, not the person. Disagreement is the whole value of a forum; contempt is not.
- ›No harassment, threats, hate speech, or targeting of an individual or a practice.
- ›No doxxing — do not post anyone's home address, personal phone, or private information.
- ›No defamation. Criticize a company's product or a documented experience; do not invent facts about a named person or business.
- ›No spam, bulk pitching, referral-link farming, or repeated posting of the same offer.
- ›No unlicensed practice: do not give individualized legal, tax, or clinical instructions to a specific person's situation. Point them to a professional.
- ›No illegal activity, and nothing that helps someone commit fraud — including insurance-billing schemes.
6. Report something, or ask for a takedown
Email hello@dentalagora.com with the subject line "Content report" and include:
- ›The exact page URL, and the room or listing where the content appears.
- ›The display name on the post and roughly when it was posted.
- ›What the problem is — which rule you believe it breaks, or why it harms you.
- ›How to reach you if we need one clarifying question.
We review every report. Anything involving patient information, a threat, or a discriminatory employment post is handled the same day we see it; everything else within a few business days. If you posted something and simply want it gone, say so — no explanation required, and we will remove it.
Copyright complaints follow the DMCA process in the Terms of Use. Requests to correct or remove a directory entry go to the same address and are honored within 48 hours.
7. How we enforce
First problem usually gets an edit request or a quiet removal with a note. Deliberate or repeated violations — undisclosed commercial spam, discriminatory postings, patient information, fake listings — end posting access. We can remove content at our discretion, and we are not obligated to host anything. We would much rather coach a good post into shape than delete it.
Questions, corrections, or requests
Email hello@dentalagora.com. We answer privacy, deletion, correction, and takedown requests within 30 days, and usually far faster.
